Our Story
In 2008, Jay Klein recognized an opportunity: small and mid-size businesses need the infrastructure and base to build their businesses. It is essential that companies have the financial leadership to help them achieve their goals.
Bringing on a full-time CFO is a significant investment, and for many growing companies the timing simply is not right. CFO Advantage Group was founded to bridge that gap — delivering senior-level financial expertise on a flexible engagement model that fits where your business is today and scales with where you are going.
We work alongside business owners and leadership teams as true partners — bringing the strategic thinking, financial discipline, and operational experience that accelerates growth and builds lasting value.
Founder
Jay Klein, CPA, founded CFO Advantage Group on a conviction that has guided his entire career: that sound financial leadership is not a luxury reserved for large corporations — it is a competitive necessity for any business serious about growth. Through CFO Advantage Group, he delivers the strategic financial guidance, operational discipline, and executive-level judgment that small and mid-size businesses need to build lasting value.
Jay brings more than 17 years of experience as Chief Financial Officer of a global distribution company, where he was a driving force behind one of the more remarkable growth stories in his industry. Partnering closely with the owner and executive team, he helped transform the business from a national distributor into an internationally recognized brand with distribution across more than 50 countries. His mandate extended well beyond the finance function — encompassing Purchasing, Information Technology, Human Resources, Legal, Quality Control, and Shipping and Logistics — giving him an unusually broad command of business operations that distinguishes his advisory work today.
Earlier in his career, Jay spent more than 25 years in commercial real estate, directing the acquisition and disposition of shopping centers and apartment complexes on behalf of major pension fund advisors and private investors. Over that period, he developed a deep fluency in capital markets, deal structuring, and investment strategy that he brings directly to clients navigating financing events, growth transactions, and portfolio decisions.
Jay began his professional career at Arthur Andersen. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University, and earned his MBA from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University.
How We Work
Financial leadership should simplify decisions, not complicate them. We translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insight that business owners can act on with confidence.
We do not hand you a report and walk away. We sit at the table with you, share accountability for outcomes, and stay engaged through execution — not just analysis.
Trust is built through consistency, transparency, and results. We say what we mean, deliver what we promise, and tell you what you need to hear — even when it is difficult.
Every business is different. We design engagements around your actual needs — not a packaged service tier — so you get the right level of support at every stage of growth.
